Mar. 1st, 2007 09:04 pmWell, I'm writing this from Dulles International Airport. This trip has not started well. Our first flight got into Rochester way late due to Chicago being snowed in or something like that. As a result of that, we got into Dulles about 5 minutes after our connecting flight had taken off. We probably saw it taxing away, in fact, while we were sitting in the aircraft waiting for the doors to open. Sadsad.
Anyways, we're now on the standby list for the 6pm flight out of here to Austin. Which is full, so I think we're counting on someone else also having a bad day. Otherwise, we're here in Washington for the night; I'll shake the airline down for a hotel room, since they'll have screwed us out roughly $100 or so for one-night hotel's stay.
In other bad news, my smartphone keeps crashing when I try to sustain a bluetooth modem connection through it. This makes me mega-sad. When I get home, I'll need to troubleshoot that issue. Its already cost us $7.95.

This is much later. The second flight was overbooked and we got bumped. Spent like an hour in a customer service line to get told they wouldn't pay for a hotel room even though they had stranded us in Washington, DC and caused us to waste a hotel-night in Austin. Screw this 'well, it wasn't our fault: it was the fault of the traffic tower in Chicago'. We paid you $800 to get us to Austin. Its simply not my fault that you guys can't get your shit together. Fuck you. The small consolation was they did get us a $88 hotel rate. Still: we've been lied to (by omission. The first agent told us we were in the front of the queue. He neglected to point out that first the flight was super-duper overbooked and that your position in the queue is pretty meaningless. They have their own algorithm that determines who gets a seat when), we've been jerked around, and now we've been cheated. Honestly, I lost my temper. This is a bit disconcerting; its hard to get me to lose my temper like that.
