Whew, its been a while since I last posted. Mostly because the weekend was hectic - we painted Steve's room on Friday and then headed off to the NYC Requiem game on Saturday (thanks Matt and El!) and then drove home on Sunday. NYC Requiem was pretty good, got to interact with interesting PCs. Work continues to be hectic; we had a meeting today about some urgently needed changes to our hierarchy editor product. Which is one of the inherent problems when you are working developing software for a company which sells that software as part of a consulting service: its well known that code is malleable and if a need comes up to make the tool do something different because of a client, there's a lot of pressure to do just that. Which is very responsive, admittedly. What it isn't, however, is very strategic. A lot of times we get so focused on the trees that we lose sight of the forest. What we need is some way of balancing strategic product direction with the chaos of mid-stream changes. This is not a new problem; the fact that its never really been solved just proves how hard a problem it is to solve.

Spent a lot of time since I got home packing up my room. I'm going to take a half day Friday to help paint, and then a half-day on the Friday after that. The good news is that I packed 13 boxes of books, from three bookcases. The bad news is that I have three bookcases to go. Meep.

A family is a place where minds come in contact with one another. If these minds love one another the home will be as beautiful as a flower garden. But if these minds get out of harmony with one another it is like a storm that plays havoc with the garden. - Buddha
