[James Daniels] Changeling: the Lost
May. 21st, 2007 08:41 pmSo I've started thinking about how I'm going to convert this PC for the new venue, based on what's already known. This is what I have so far; I'm going to steal the format most everyone else is using, though there will be fiction later.
Name: James Daniels
Type: Uhhhhhhh... Dunno yet.
James has always been a defender. Before he was taken, he was a large high school student. He could have gone out for the football team. He could probably have gained popularity tormenting people smaller than him. That never really felt right to him. His size always felt like a burden, like he was always a bull in a china shop. When he was a freshman things came to a head when his gym teacher noticed his awkwardness. The teacher suggested Aikido, an art that James gladly took up as a way of doing something productive with his bulk. He excelled at the martial art, slowly rising through the ranks. When he was a senior, he attended his first winter camp. He would, however, not return home again.
The fae that noticed him didn't quite realize what aikido was; they took him for a conscript, to fight against their enemies. He was told he would either fight, or he would die. The choice was unacceptable to him; he refused to take a life, especially for a cause as seemingly pointless as the one he was pointed towards. And so, in his first battlefield, he fled. There were guards against such deserters, of course, and getting away was one of the hardest things he ever had to do. He succeeded in the end, and made his way through the thorns.
James is, essentially, an idealist. He lives by a code of honor that a lot of people would probably call insane, given the threats that lie on the other side of the thorns. He insists, though, that his honor makes him stronger, not weaker; and that it helps divide him from the murderous monsters that wage war for the fun of it.
