I actually made it to Aikido Saturday morning. I'm glad that I did; I'll be trying to go Wednesday and Friday morning, though it requires getting up quite early. Aikido being great, though, I think I can do it.
The most overwhelming thing about the weekend was, no doubt, Sunday. We met our realtor at 1 and then went through a blizzard of seven houses. Two of them were pretty nice, though we really would have loved a conglomeration of them. We figured we would never get such a conglomeration, though.
Then we found ourselves on Hoover Road. From the moment we walked into the house, our jaws were on the floor. Its an absolutely gorgeous house - a fairly nice sized kitchen that'll be really nice once we get a butchers block. A sun-room that's heated so that we can use it most of the year, looking out over a fenced in backyard. The garage is detached, but large. The dining room is beautifal as well and the living room has a fireplace! A fireplace! Basement is finished, and there are five bedrooms. Two of which are on the converted attic. We easily have enough space for guests, a library and an office if we wanted it.
Both of us being absolutely in love, we talked about it for a while, and resolved to put in a bid. Which we did. A few hours later, we learned that the seller's realtor had told ours that there was another bid on the house. We talked it over, and resolved to raise our offer a bit to try and seal the deal. It being superbowl Sunday, we haven't heard anything back yet. Both Jilly and I are very, very nervous at this point (we're asking for a seller's concession, and are afraid that that might kibosh the deal). On the other hand, we are also wondering if we got played - was there really a second bid, or did the agent just say there was.
We'll know for certain early this week.
